GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER-IN-Training

Foresight is seeking qualified candidates for our geotechnical engineer-in-training position. The selected candidate will perform geotechnical engineering and consulting services for transportation and other infrastructure projects in Texas and will be introduced to advanced and complex transportation work in the area of geotechnical engineering. This work includes the functional areas of project development, design, construction, and maintenance.

Description

The selected candidate will perform work on assignments independently, with supervisor guidance and support provided as needed. All work will be performed in compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines, as well as Foresight procedures and standards. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities: As a key member of our team, the selected candidate will be given an opportunity to wear multiple hats and to help grow the company’s geotechnical services group. His or her primary roles/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the performance of and/or assistance with:

  • Geotechnical investigations, field exploration, and testing

  • Geotechnical engineering analysis of walls, slopes, foundations, and pavements

  • Developing design recommendations, details, plans, and specifications

  • Preparing, composing and reviewing related geotechnical reports

  • Conducting construction inspection services

  • Performing Foresight business development and operations duties as needed

 

Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this position:

  • Certified Engineer-in-Training in the State of Texas is required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar field

  • Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred, but not required

  • Proficiency in applicable analysis software including, but not limited to, Slide, LPile, MSEW, Settle is preferred

  • Strong communication skills and experience coordinating with others (including project team members and/or external stakeholders) to identify and address project issues

 

Job Location: During “standard” public health conditions, the selected candidate will perform office job duties primarily from the Foresight Austin headquarters, located at 12885 Research Blvd, Suite 203 in Austin, Texas 78750. However, office job duties may initially be performed remotely as needed based on public health and safety data updates during the Covid-19 pandemic. Field work will be performed at the relevant project site and/or materials storage site, which varies based on specific work assignments.

 

Travel Requirements: <50% to conduct field investigations, including assisting with geotechnical drilling and site forensic inspections at various locations throughout Texas.
