Dr. Alejandro Pino Bravo, P.E., Ph.D.
Senior Geotechnical Engineer & Technical Lead

Alejandro is a civil and geotechnical engineer with more than 24 years of experience working on infrastructure projects in the United States, Colombia, and Ecuador. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Universidad del Cauca and a specialization diploma in Geotechnical Engineering for Roadways from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He also earned both a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington, focusing on geotechnical engineering.
Alejandro has supported transportation and public works, as well as commercial and residential land-development projects across the United States, with extensive experience throughout Texas. His work has included subsurface investigations, geotechnical analysis, foundation and retaining wall design, soil and rock slope stability evaluations, pavement and embankment assessments, and construction-phase engineering support. He has contributed to highway, bridge, and roadway improvement projects for a range of public and private clients, including substantial work performed under TxDOT standards and procedures.
Alejandro’s practical experience builds on a strong technical foundation in rock and soil mechanics theory and laboratory and field testing. He routinely applies this expertise to evaluate subsurface conditions, develop engineering analyses, provide design recommendations, and support clients through both routine and complex engineering challenges. His broad experience across multiple countries and project delivery environments – including design-build projects – gives him a clear understanding of the needs of owners, consultants, and contractors.
Alejandro is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. In addition to his engineering practice, he serves as an instructor at Austin Community College, where he teaches TxDOT courses such as Geotechnical Engineering, Inspection of Bridge Construction, and Inspection of Flexible Base & Embankment. He also teaches the Earth Pressure and Earth Retaining Systems course through the Ingeoexpert online education platform.
